The lake level is at 611 or 12 feet above summer pool and falling very slowly. The water temperature is in the high sixties to low seventies with warmer temps back in the shallow end of the coves. The warmer temperatures will warm the water up rapidly. PLEASE WATCH FOR LOGS AND SUBMERGED TIMBER! There are lots of submerged and floating objects that you would not normally see.
Crappie have been found in some of the deeper water, and are scattered around the timber Fish around standing timber working from about 8-10 ft deep in towards the shallows. They are scattered. Use minnows, yellow, chartreuse, or pearlized tinsel jigs. The ratio of keepers is small but some nice ones are being caught also.
The limit on Crappie has been changed! As of April 1, 2008, you may keep 10 fish over 10 inches and 5 fish below 10 inches.
The largemouth bass are moving towards the deeper water. Use plastic baits on the structure or fish the shallower areas with a spinner bait or crank bait. Some bucks are still over the beds protecting the fry. Throw a small minnow type bait along the shoreline for these.
White Bass are with some being caught in the river. Also try along the windblown banks where the bait fish have moved in.
Walleye are sporadic. Some are being caught trolling deep running crank baits on the flats, and also with nightcrawlers along the riprap and main lake points.
Muskie are somewhat slow. Fish the rocky areas and rip rap with spinner baits.
